New OrleansJust as I’ve emptied the
family’s suitcase’s and caught up on vacation laundry, I’m privileged enough to be heading back to the airport
today. Granted, with much fewer baggage this time. A wicked lady, named Katrina, slammed into the Gulf Coast two years ago and devastated the region. People lost
their lives, homes, and livelihoods. A catastrophe like no other! The world was shocked and stared open-mouthed
as the wind did it’s damage and the flooding water forced people to their roofs for a breath of air. Images of heroic
rescues and people persevering served to remind us all of the good in humanity. New York Time’s best selling author, Heather Graham, held the first Writer’s
for New Orleans Workshop last summer to support the people and economy of a city which has contributed so much to our nation’s
history. Authors from around the world gathered for a weekend and agreed to return this year so that they may continue to
support the rebuilding of New Orleans. I
am honored to have the opportunity to participate once again in this wonderful workshop from Friday, August 31st
to Sunday, September 2nd , 2007. A bookfair will be held on Sunday, 11:30 am-2:00 pm, at the Hotel Monteleone in
the French Quarters. If you are in the area, please drop by, say hello, and add to the support. For more information please visit Heather’s website. www.theoriginalheathergraham.com See ya on Bourbon! Aleka
